Consciousness, inner worlds and the forms of the unseen.
Curatorial Note
Consciousness, inner worlds and the forms of the unseen. The exhibition brings together selected works from the Museum collection to explore this question through different artistic voices and visual traditions.

Leonardo da Vinci
1452–1519
Italian Renaissance artist, thinker and inventor whose practice joined painting, drawing, observation and scientific inquiry. His surviving works, including the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, are celebrated for their psychological subtlety, atmospheric effects and sustained investigation of the natural world.

Michelangelo
1475–1564
Italian Renaissance sculptor, painter, architect and poet whose monumental works shaped Western art. His sculptures, Sistine Chapel frescoes and architectural projects combine anatomical intensity, spiritual drama and an enduring ideal of human form.

Francisco Goya
1746–1828
Spanish painter and printmaker whose work spans court portraiture, social observation and dark visions of war and human violence. His late paintings and graphic series helped open paths toward modern art and expressionism.

Vincent van Gogh
1853–1890
Dutch Post-Impressionist painter whose expressive color, energetic brushwork and emotionally charged landscapes and portraits became central to modern art. His short career produced an influential body of work concerned with nature, people and inner experience.

Edvard Munch
1863–1944
Norwegian painter and printmaker whose recurring themes of anxiety, love, illness and mortality gave his work powerful psychological intensity. His expressive line and color became important precedents for Expressionism.

Raja Ravi Varma
1848–1906
Indian painter who combined academic European techniques with subjects drawn from Indian mythology, literature and portraiture. His paintings and widely circulated oleographs helped bring mythological imagery into popular visual culture in colonial-era India.

Amrita Sher-Gil
1913–1941
Hungarian-Indian modernist painter whose work brought European modernist training into dialogue with Indian subjects and visual traditions. Her portraits and scenes of Indian life are marked by strong color, simplified form and psychological depth.

Anuragk Gupta
b. 1973
Indian contemporary artist whose Museum record includes works such as Manifestation and Metamorphosis. His practice is presented in the Cultural Exchanges Museum alongside historical and contemporary artists, with the Museum preserving the artist’s supplied record and clearly distinguishing display from certification or authentication.
